Is it ok for me to put my son's footie boots to wash in the machine or will it shrink it a little? It would save me so much time if I could do that! Thanks!

I have washed my son's boots in the machine before. I tied them into an old pillowcase before I did it and put them in with towels and tea towels so they didn't damage the drum. The boots were fine.

Ditto to Daffy.

Save YOU so much time? Get him to scrub them after a game. My bloke gets fined if he doesnt have clean boots and its not me that will be cleaning them
Unconvinced detergent does leather much good.

Yes he ought to clean them himself, but I suspect he'd risk the detention instead and not bother. IIRC boots work just as well covered in mud as sparkling clean.

Thanks everyone. I'll try the pillowcase method.
Yes, I know I should make him clean them but he's got so much homework and after school clubs that it's quicker for me to do it. Also, being so controlling that I am, I know he wouldn't do a good enough job and would make such a mess that it's just easier not to ask him!! Perhaps in a few years' time once he becomes a teenager and annoys the hell out of me, then I'll just go on strike and get him to do everything!
