This summer we have developed about 6 largish bare patches of earth on our lawn, which on closer inspection are heaving with ants. Is it enough to put down ant powder and the grass will regrow? or is there a better method, please?

We use boiling water - not so nice for the ants but it works, and it damages the eggs too.
