I challenge the axiom because I Want a new Waste Pipe.!!

The inch and a half 'push fit' outlet pipe from my kitchen sink (ouside of house section) has split and needs to be replaced. However, even a Plumber, who recently replaced for me a toilet syphon, was unable to suggest where such pipe could be purcased locally;because everything has now gone metric.

I felt sure that an Internet search would produce results. However, whilst there are lots of firms who are able to supply all pipe connection pieces, none appear to sell the actual piping which is necessary to complete a plumbing job.

My question therefore is..."What do I do now.?" I only need a 5ft 4in. length.

I think you will find that a double screw-ended 1.5 inch Multifit connector enables attachment of 1.5 inch old plasic pipework to 40mm modern equivalent.
McAlpine makes them but there are others.

Rather than challenge the axiom, you have reinforced it.

If you did not produce 'waste' you would have no need to replace the pipe.

Waste? do!; Want? do!

Hi buildersmate,

I thank you for your advice and, my endeavouring to use modern day terminology, I 'took on board' what you said. However, I have resolved my problem which was not as serious as I had thought.

Please smile when I say that the plumber had thrown me by saying that I needed a length of inch & half push fit pipe, whereas 40mm was required; because the waste pipe had been installed when I had a kitchen re-vamp after metrification had been adopted in the u.k.

This morning I carefully measured the diameter of the pipe and then went to Homebase and bought all that I required. Then this afternoon I carried-out the necessary repair with a 40mm PVC pipe , a 45degree elbow (foot piece at drain end ) and a couple of pipe clips. All for £6.77p.

Thanks again for your observations and advice which are always of real help to myself and other ABers.

Best wishes Ron.

P.S. I think you will agree with me that ABerrant has made a good point.
