Have you thought about using one of those cafe rods that sit within the frame and are jammed there or sticky pads to hold up the rod, once you have drilled it, its drilled forever

As woofgang says, if you go to a soft furnishings store, you will find rods for net curtains which are attached with small, sticky pads.

Do not drill holes in the uPVC window frame.  It would take up too much time at present to give you a detailed answer.

snodgrass - If you do decide to buy sticker pads, make sure they are the good strong adhesive type. A couple of the neighbours who have nets up at the windows, are always hanging them back up as the adhesive isn't very good. Now that would be very embarrassing if you'd just got out of the bath & the nets fell down - just a warning!

You shouldn't drill holes in the uPVC windows

If it's only net curtains, then good adhesive pads should be fine.  Curtain poles should be fixed to walls not windows.

You'd need to use self-tapping screws that are slightly bigger than the hole you've just drilled.

Always better not to drill a hole, especially into uPVC.

Try sticky pads, No-More-Nails, or some type of extra-strong adhesive.   Remember you can`t undrill a hole, once it`s there it`s there forever, and as long as you spread what little weight there is fairly evenly you should be OK.

If they're double glazed uPVC windows, (as most are these days), by drilling you risk penetrating the cavity between the panes. You will then end up with condensation between the two panes of glass, which is no easy feat to claen and remedy. Don't do it!
if you go for the sticky pad route try using silicone sealant to keep them on,it doesnt go off solid like no nails etc, and is easy to remove if there not needed anymore.
