some years ago I was told (can't recall by whom) that the application of paraffin to the affected areas was an effective treatment for the erridication of woodworm... would anyone agree with this please?... or perhaps comment. The purchase of Boron seems quite expensive at 40 a time.

Although I cannot testify to the efficacy of using paraffin to treat wordworm, I recall my mother using the method. She applied the paraffin liberally on the affected parts, using a paint brush.

Thanks Hymie, Ive decided to give it a try. The area involved is only quite small and I plan to lift the carpet in, say, a year to ascertain whether the activity has halted or whether there's been any further woodworm damage.

Kind regards,

Just dont exactly that, The wife bought an old "tallboy" chest of drawers with slight woodworm in the base. Turned it upside down and brushed (and poured a bit) paraffin in to the holes, hey presto ! within seconds out popped a single wood worm grub. soooo it seems to work :-)
