My local council dump/refuse centre has various containers for different materials, including one for scrap metal.
Check with your council to see if they have similar, and if so, you can take it down there. Or see if your council will collect large items. The charge depends on the council. Some take one per household free, others charge per item, or single charge for a number of items.
If you leave it on the end of your drive, then I'm sure the members of the traveling community will remove it for you free of charge.
