I have an easter cactus which has lived in my kitchen for about 5 years that is looking rather sad. It has always been healthy and after I repotted it last year it prospered dramatically. For the past few months its been looking rather unwell, the leaves are soft and wrinkled and there is no sign of any buds, something I've not had a problem with in the past. I haven't changed its position, care or watering routine so really don't know what's wrong with it. Has anyone any suggestions?

I have a number of cactii of different varieties including the Zygo. and schlumbergia of which you may have one. The basic care for cactii is; plenty of water during the summer but cold and dry in the winter(to encourage the formation of flowers.) My cactii are centrally heated in the winter at about 72F so I water them regularly but some in the cold basement, at about 50F tend to be forgotten and they fit the same description that you have given.A good watering sees them right.
