I recently bought a flat and the cooker was included in the sale. It is a Teba branded cooker and doesn't apear to be very old. The hobs work fine but the oven won't stay lit. I turned the knob and kept it pressed in and lit the oven. I held the knob in for a minute or so and when the knob was released, the oven went out. Tried it a few times but it didn;t work. Even after holding it in for 5 mins it still cut out. Is this a simple problem to fix? Any suggestions very much appreciated... Ta!

i ruthy, have you got a timer with minutes and hours on your cooker,on mine if the minute minder is on then the hobs will work but not the oven.this happens on mine but its not the same make as yours.goodluck.

Is there any way to contact the previous owner and ask them? Or see if you can get hold of the 'users manual'? Alternatively you may have to get a Corgi registered gas engineer out to look at it as it could be blocked gas jets.  It is very unwise to try doing repairs to gas appliances yourself.

Hope you get is sorted

I used to have one that you had to hold in to light, but once lit I had to twist the nob while still holding it in.

A complicated manuver, but well worth trying.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I was talking to the bloke I bought it from last night and he lived on takeaways! He suggested turning the gas knob once the oven is ignited . Well worth a try and if it works will probably be cheaper than a Corgi man!! Ta!
