I am hoping someone will confirm a theory. My daughters just phoned me after arriving home from staying with us since 23rd Dec telling me her freezer has partly defrosted. I am thinking because the house has been left without heating all this time and the weather has been so cold this may have upset things the room being so cold too. Any comments Please???

the temperature of a room would not affect the freezer ,most people have them in their garages which are a lot colder than the house ,it sounds like she needs a new freezer
As genis suggests,we have a large chest freezer in our garage.
Sometimes the garage is colder than the freezer!
A freezer will run independently ot the room temeperature.
Maybe one of her family turned it down to save electricity whilst they were away?
sorry *glenis*
We also have a chest freezer in our garage which works well throughout the year. However we also have a fridge freezer which defrosts during periods of cold weather, consequently we only use it during the summer months.
There should be a notice on the back or in the instruction maual informing you of the maximum and minimum temperatures it will operate in.
