I have a washing machine in my utility room which empties via a standard stand type pipe outlet. As I have a large family I want to buy a second washing machine. My question is will it be ok to have two machine outlet pipes emptying down the one stand pipe or would it be likely to flood if both machines are emptying at the same time? If so is there any way round this as I have nowhere else I could put the 2nd machine.

it depends on how well the drains flow,

if there is a fairly straight path without too many sharp corners or other restrictions in the drain then it should be ok. only way to know for sure though is to try it and see.
So your saying you have so much washing to do you need 2 machines, jeez how many are in your family???
