Do you know of anyone who has installed high level security systems for their home?
I'm looking for British people who have installed CCTV, barbed wire, perimeter fencing, etc.

The Queen
Why? Are you a burglar?
I have installed a lurcher, a baseball bat and a rice flail lol
I have a terrifying ex-husband; I find that this keeps most people away. I would thoroughly recommend it.
Still talking to me Cheries lol
You wouldn't be anything to do with one of these "documentary" TV companies would you?

Making some sort of "Fortress Britain" program - looking to show what some people have benn "reduced to" in the face of rising crime?

Having trouble in finding "representative" people to fit the story?
Question Author
I am conducting research into real life cases of people who have major home security - not a burglar!
Question Author
It is for a possible documentary, but I am not looking to make something up to fit the idea. This is a very early stage of research, so looking to find out if such people exist and if there is a case for such a documentary.
Hmm

So the options are to display a picture of a country living so much in dread of rising crime as to be fueling a growth in high end security systems.

Or to find and hold up a bunch of paranoid "nutters" to public ridicule.

You could focus on rich people and celebrities as suggested but people would think they had a good reason for such systems so the documentry would be dull.

And we couldn't have that could we?

A documentry that was accurate and representative but dull compared to one that was sensationalist and misleading or exploitative!

You jump to many conclusions jakethepeg.

As I said, this is an early stage of research - I'll let the research dictate the direction and angle of the documentary. If there are no cases, there will not be a documentary.

I would provide a balanced programme - find out why people feel the need to install a high end security system - are they the victim of repeated burglaries or do they just want to be secure?

By the way, I've yet to see any suggestion that I should focus on rich people or celebrities until your last post so your statement "You could focus on rich people and celebrities as suggested" doesn't really make sense. I would suggest most people who can afford a high end security system are likely to be fairly wealthy.
I live in South Bucks the peple who have the tip top security systems round here are the Vietnamese Drugs Barons ... try consulting the worst robbery stats. areas and see if there is jacked up security in those areas - to see if it is crime or the fear of crime that makes people take action to install. I would suggest that there may also be a relationship between the amount of effort people have to expend to get things in the first place, and their desire to keep those things in their possesion.
Possibly because I've seen documentary researchers on here before.

Go on then prove me wrong - What have you worked on that you're proud of?

Question Author
I have mostly worked in development and on entertainment shows, which won't tell you one way or the other how I treat documentary making.

It seems odd how judgmental you have been based on your prejudices, considering that you are seemingly blasting documentary makers for going in with an agenda...
I think you're being rather disingenuous.

Your question is not about high level security systems at all. There's nothing "high level" about barbed wire and fences.

You're looking for people with a seige mentality.

There's only 2 options

1/ This is sensible - be afraid!
2/ This is not - look at them!

The fact that you specifically want British people makes me suspect the former

Question Author
Jake,

I want British people as I am based in the UK. Nothing more sinister than that.

I did mention CCTV as well as barbed wire, fencing - I am unaware of what other security measures one can take - but if you have something more high-tech, than I would be very interested to hear about it.
There are plenty of high tech security systems beyond Barbed Wire, CCTV and alarms. The people who have them will have been advised not to speak about it.
You will doubtless find plenty folks happy to discuss their 'Fortresses' with grills and dogs but mainly in poorer high crime areas.

Question Author
Thanks Billy - unfortunately I have yet to find anyone with a high tech system or otherwise to speak...
It's not necessarily a bad idea to. Having security systems is a great way to protect your family. In addition, robbers/intruders are less likely to target your home if they see a home alarm sticker outside your home (on the window, door etc).

Security is important part of life and your assets and your property. According to me Video door phones are essential security solution for apartments, building and office. I am using video door phone for my office and home. It is reliable and easy to install.
