can you still use creosote ?

We have some old creosote and have been asked to paint fence rails and trees ! with it to stop horses from "eating" the fence and bark off trees...is this safe. All it says on the containers is not to use where bats are present. Thanks

My boyfriend works in a timber yard and they use it, so may be you can only use it is you are professional and are going to sell it already done to the public
