My garden pond has absolutely loads of frog spawn in it. However, as we haven't had much rain, there is more spawn in there than water - my question is, can I just top it up with tap water or will it harm the little tadpoles? I am very excited at the prospect of the arrival of my 10,000 new babies.

Hi,

I'm not sure, but i think as long as its filtered water (no chemicals or anything) even better bottled water, they should be ok.

Good luck with the little ones kags!!!

Hi, I'm no expert either, but I'd say any water is better than no water! I have a small wildlife pond....with a hole in it...:o[
and I top it up regularly through the summer months....no problems so far!

I usually put something in the water like you do with fish tanks. You can buy it from pet stores and it takes away the chemicals in tap water.

thank you for your answers - I will let you know how many frogs I get (probably just a handful I guess)
we top ours up with rain water, i just leave a bucket or bowl outside to collect it. good luck with ur new arrivals!
ny water will do if its tap water put it in bowl or bucket and let it stand for several hours befor adding to pond. Dont forget that the egg is in its own liquid and should come to no harm except from the sun.

Huddersfield - hardly any rain here - must be something to do with where we are in relation to the Pennines.
