Had a magnolia bush in a large tub for about 3 years. Has very healthy foliage but has never flowered.

Hi SpyWriter, for it to do really well, it should be positioned in full sun to or light shade, soil should be free draining and kept well watered (rain water is best) Most magnolias prefer it on the acid side of nutral, so a mulch of ericacious may help, mixed in with some rich organic matter ie leaf mould is good and a sprinkling of slow release fertiliser at recomended intervals.
Some seed grown species can take 20 years to reach their flowering stage but its more likely you have a grafted magie in youe tub, which should flower much sooner!
