How do I lower my grass edge to path level?

I have just had some block paving laid. Where it meets my grass border in places the grass level is a couple of inches higher in places than the path. Any ideas on how best to bring the grass level down please. How much could a garden roller bring the level down?
Very grateful for any replies.

Rolling won't work.

What I'd advise is: remove the turf by rolling it back, in strips, away from your path, as far as you want the slope down to go. Then remove the appropriate amount of soil from the (now bare) lawn area. Replace your turf.

It will probably be a bit lumpy, if you're not an expereinced 'turfer' but it will settle down, then you fill in the hollows with a bit of fine soil.

Remember to water it if we have a dry spell, as it won't have the full roots back for a while.
Easy, carefully remove turf after cutting into neat squares with spade not shovel, using same spade carefully remove underlying soil to correct depth then replace turf, tamp it down well, to make sure the roots are in good contact with soil. Make sure the turf never dries out!!
LOL, you beat me to it Catso
