I stupidly carried a jar of olive oil in my leather handbag and it leaked and has left a nasty stain. Does anyone has any suggestions as to how to get it out. The leather is light brown and marks easily so I don't expect it to be perfect. Would dry cleaning work?

Oil soaked in to thextent it's come through? I 'd say your bag's pretty much knackered. Sorry.

But hey, I might be wrong!
How would you feel about oiling the whole bag so it's a darker brown? I'd use neatsfoot or sometihng, though, not olive oil, which might get rancid smelling.
I found a company online (Spotlessleather.com) and they have an Online cleaning service. Just pick the style of jacket and it will tell you what the cost is to not only clean it but to actually restore it to a like new condition. I have used them and they are very nice priced way below what you would think and it gets delivered right to your door. Check them out!
