Does anyone know whether it is possible to plaster directly on top of wall tiles

yes you can . pva the tiles,then when the pva was tacky I used british gypsum bonding compound 5mm thick to cover the tiles and when that set I skimmed over with plaster finish

Thanks, how quickly do you have to apply the bonding compund before the 'tackiness' of the PVA sets
probably 2 hours is fine because if you are a novice at plastering ,when you put your,e bonding on the tiles you might find it slips if it isnt tacky enough . ie 70-80%set
