We have a back boiler at present which is about 20 years old so would like to renew! Can anybody tell me if Combi boilers are OK,or would another back boiler be better? We have 3 bedroomed semi with 2 showers, but I prefer bath everyday!

I would say advantages and disadvantages with a Combi,

It means you don't have to have a header tank and hot water cylinder, but if it goes wrong, you don't have the immersion heater as back up for hot water, I prefer the conventional system with the hot water cylinder.
Hi, Just had one put in 6 months ago. Main advantage I see is that in the summer time you use little gas as you do not have to heat up hot water tank a couple of times a day.
Certainly I am using less gas alround, but bearing in mind the age of my old boiler it would probably be the same if I had a new standard boiler.
Main advantage of a combi is said to be the availability of instant hot water without a storage tank, but we have found that we actually miss having an airing cupboard.
Swings and roundabouts really but I think that in your situation I would go for another back boiler.
If you have two showers make them electric mains and leave the combi to do all other sinks and washbasins etc.
