not on about just an architrave, but taking the whole frame out and putting a new one in.

The question is, where the hell do you buy a complete interior door frame from? I looked in Homebase yesterday on my lunch hour, but couldn't find one - do they sell kits?

Sorry for sounding thick!!!!!

Wickes sell door jambs.

that's the ****** - cheers!

But the jamb is the bit the dorr closes onto yes? The centre bit - can you buy the actual frame that the door hinge screws onto?

You require a door liner set - two jambs (sides), a head (top) and door stop batten.

They may be available at some DIY shops but your best bet is a Builders Merchant.
As Kempie says, these things are not sold as complete frames - they are sold as various parts which a chippie makes up. Reason - so many different sizes!. Once you have got the door lining in place, conventionally you then plaster up to the flush edge of the liner. The architrave (top, plus two sides, x2) is then nailed over the joint between lining and plaster edge. Then hang the door, then nail the three strips into the liner that the door closes up against.

Cracking - cheers for that everyone - will now attempt to botch them in, balls them up, and hire a prefessional!
Just give me a call then to sort you out then! I've just finished doing 18 of the damn things in my self-build, so I've just about got the hang of it.
