Could anyone tell me please if I can move my camelia to another place in the garden without hurting it. many thanks.

Yes you can, But at this time of the year its still activly growing and it would be less hurtful if you waited til the autumn, when the plant is in its dormant period.


chose a position that is sheltered from frosts, or the blooms may be damaged by late frosts.


Try to keep as much of the original soil attached to the roots as poss, water in well and after a week or two give it some slow reliese fertilizer (granular) and a mulch of humus rich, well rotted manure mixed with compost such as levington. Good Luck.

Yes, we have moved one which was about three feet tall, but we did it in the autumn when it was not at the height of its growing or flowering season. However, it you're absolutely desperate to move it now because it's occupying a place where you want to built a patio or conservatory or something, have a large replacement hole already dug before you even start trying to remove the plant. Water it well before trying to move it which will help keep the soil around the root ball in place and keep watering it well once it's in its new location as well as mulching it well to retain moisture. It's best not to plant camelias where they catch the early morning sun or where they can suffer frost damage. Happy digging !
