can anyone tell me if it's the norm for a washing cycle to take almost 2 hours, it only runs on cold water is this the reason it takes so long, my old one only took 45mins. Some of the cycles take over 3 hours.thanks in advance

ronnie. I have a zanussi which, on a 40 degree, half load, wash takes about an hour and 20 mins. On a full wash it's about 1 hour 40. If your doing a higher temperature wash it will take longer to heat the cold water up
I have a cold fill Miele - 30 minutes on a 40 degree quick wash, about 2 hours on a intensive boil wash with full spin, which is the longest cycle.

Does the manual give an indication of programme times?

hi ethel- it actully has a display screen that tells how long a cycle last, my quick wash is 30 mins but only at 30 degrees which i dont think will clean very well. oh well with 2 weeks washing to do its going to take awhile to catch up
I have a cold fill only Zanussi, and on a 40 wash cycle it takes about 1hr and 15 mins. A hint for you, put washing powder straight into the drum and then the drawer won't bung up. Even better use liquid.
Because the new washing machines are 'water-saving' and use less water, they tend to take longer. If it is a new washing machine, it could take up to 2 hours

Yes, I had a zanussi which I loved (16yrs & never repaired!) & didn't take as long as the LG which I have now - it drives me mad!

I was told - & I'm prepared to be told different by those who know - that all this low energy thing is a con & that it's actually less energy per hour that they use & therefore take longer to get the job done.
