I have just got a new settee and where the previous furniture was it has left flat marks on the carpet. Does anyone have any good ideas (that do work) of how to get rid of them?

You could try an ice cube on them, this will draw out the pile again.
Use an ice cube, cover with a tea-towel and then iron over the area, this should fluff it up again (obviously don't put the iron on too hot!!).

tks for the answers , have tried the ice cube seems to have made a bit of difference will see in the morning
I asked this question once when we bought a new carpet and was told that there's not much you can do. Depends how heavy the furniture is. The carpet stretches along with the underlay. You may bring the pile up a bit, but it will always be there.
