I will tell you what we've done later save to say we've had our loft sprayfoamed with the breathable foam!!

Doesn't spray foam have a bad rep to the point where mortgage companies are refusing properties with it.

The breathable sort has stopped the condensation problem that the other sort caused

Yes Barry that is what I heard and read and was told before it's installation, so we went ahead with it. Now i,m getting cold feet and nervous but I really don't think I should be worried! Well a second winter coming up since it was done ............??  Chris

Having not long sold a house (without foam) we had to declare that on the legal forms.  When our buyers surveyor arrived it was his first question and went up to confirm.

As we were looking at houses we asked what the difference was, the open cell (breathable) was more prone to retaining moisture and there could be mould forming.  Certainly made us sure that we would not look at a property with it.

One of my Son in Laws makes a handsome bit of cash taking this stuff out and doing it properly complete with a certificate.

As DDIL says most of these people are having it done due to Mortgage Issues when trying to sell.

According to my SiL this is exactly what the problem is and it is present in pretty much all the properties he works on.  They wear 'Hamzat' style suits not just becasue of the particles from the foam but also the millions of mould spores.

My MIL was convinced into having this done, she let some fella up in the roof about 8 years ago - he came down and said 'yup you have damp but I can fix it for you - that will be 6 grand'

She paid it without question!!

The certificate doesn't count for much with mortgage providers, most if not all installers issue certificates, guarantees and what not.
