I have jet washed my patio, but because it is enclosed and there is almost no drainage, the dirty water sits for some time, so there is a lake of sludge sitting on top of the paving that has been washed.  I'm left with the paving having to be drained and washed over and over again to get rid of it.  Is there a better way?  I would appreciate your ideas.

Is there any way to improve the drainage?

Would it be possible to remove several slabs and plant a shrub or two?

I can envisage your problem, and it can be an irritation. All that I can suggest is that you create some kind of drain hole, or gap, in the patio surrounding, through which the sludge/water can be shoved.

Yeah, a pain ain't it. Let the sludge dry. It has been lifted and so should be easier to sweep off later.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've found now that it has dried, most of it can be swept up and this leaves only the residue to be washed away.  I wonder how professionals manage with big jet washing jobs with poor drainage.

some kind of vacuum system like the carpet washers?

Lidl regularly feature a wet and dry vacuum cleaner at much cheapness. Three year warranty too.
