I am waiting for a couple of items to arrive, and I am scrolling through their household goods.  I cannot believe the large range of items they have and how cheap they are, it seems too good to be true.  Anyone else dealt with them?

I can't recall ever having bought anything from Temu but I have bought plenty of items from their main rival which, for some odd reason, AB won't allow me to name on here.  (Imagine Muhammad Ali watching Midnight Express to get my meaning though!).  I've had no problems with either the quality of the goods or the delivery times.

However I'd still be very wary of buying anything from either site where there might be safety issues involved.  (e.g. I wouldn't buy a chain saw from them!)

I have bought many items from Temu and been very pleased with all purchases so far. Especially the children's and ladies clothing - I found an amazing wedding (guest) outfit on there. I tend to read reviews carefully and look at the photos from reviewers. I have had some beautiful solar lights for garden also, and tools/vinyl for cricut machine.

I think you only have to spend £15 for free  delivery.

I asked a friend about Temu a couple of days ago. She buys online often. Her response was 'use it if you have to but use something else if you can'.

Well both my items were less than £15 and I still got free postage!  Fingers crossed for when they arrive... watch this space.

By the way is free postage the same as free delivery....??

Yes

It's a Chinese company. It gains unfair advantages (which is what Trump is railing against) and there is always the suspicion of enforced labour. No wonder they're inexpensive and have a large range. But your local industries are likely more deserving of your attention.

Temu is like eBay, they are a marketplace for thousands of sellers

That's right OG but peoples' ethics seem to fly out the window when they can buy something for nearly nothing and even get a free tablet or drone or some other expensive item thrown on. There have also been tests that show some of their products do not meet our safety standards.  I would never buy from any of them however poor I was.

Twice - both satisfactory.

Forgot to mention, I ordered something on the 17th and what with the holiday weekend, it hasn't arrived yet. Not a problem as it's coming from China. I'll know better how good they are when it does.

Millions of single packages are delivered into the UK from Chinese companies like Temu every day. By selling direct to the customer rather than via wholesalers they avoid import taxes. It's all fairly efficient I think but I have no direct experience as I can't support the Chinese economy myself.

Slave and forced labour is used to manafacture poor quality goods that while people are struggling to keep their businesses afloat here due to the min wage and safety regulations.

Not everything comes from China now. In the previous Temu thread a few days ago I said that I had bought from Temu using Paypal for years. They now have sellers in the UK. and two of my last items came from Manchester 15 miles away.

"Is it ethical to buy from Temu?

AI Overview

Buying from Temu raises ethical concerns, primarily due to the potential for forced labor and substandard quality. While Temu claims to prohibit forced labor, there are ongoing investigations suggesting a high risk of this practice within their supply chains. Additionally, items sold on Temu may be knock-offs, made with substandard materials, or fail to meet basic quality standards"

Thanks all, interesting.

Chinese Tat.

I see (lots of) identical items on Amazon but they are usually cheaper/free delivery on Temu. Most come from China whichever site they are sold through. Calling it all "tat" is just ignorant IMV.

I have bought quite a few items from Temu and they certainly weren't tat.  If I remember rightly they took a bit longer to arrive but well worth the wait.
