Hi,

My gas company (EON) have put a smart meter in on Thursday and as you would expect we are watching it to see how much gas is used for different things.

We have a gas boiler that does the hot water and the central heating and a gas cooker.

It gives an update on how much is being used daily and kicks over at midnight.

Well, this morning it showed 37p worth of gas used between midnight and 6am. Nothing was on. The central heating is off, no hot water was used and the cooker wasn't used.

Does anyone know if it takes a standing charg or something? Or do you think we have a leak 🤯

From the CAB website:
"If your in-home display is set to show the money you’ve spent, this includes the ‘standing charge’. The standing charge is a fixed daily fee set by your energy supplier - this pays for your connection to the gas and electricity networks. It isn't affected by the amount of energy you use.

The daily standing charge is added at the start of each day - usually after midnight"

Just click through to usage and you should see it shows 0 kwh
