I am going to wallpapering one wall which normally takes 2 rolls of paper.  The paper I have is a half drop (something I'm not familiar with . Would 2 rolls still be enough. Inusually by straight match. Thanks

The calculator here is intended to be used with the particular manufacturer's own products but (because it allows you to change the lengths of the rolls, for example) it should work for any make of wallpaper:

Thank you that's very helpful

Whatever the pattern repeat, and depending on the height of the wall, it is normal to get 3 drops per roll. Only on abnormally high walls (for a house) have i only got 2 drops out of a roll.

This thread reminds me of The Two Ronnnies sketch, where they are two yokels chatting on a park bench.

Ron C:  You remember when I asked you how many rolls you bought for that room the same size as mine.

Ron B: Yes

Ron C Well I bought that number of rolls and at the end I had one roll left over.

Ron B: That's funny, so did I.

^^^ That sketch starts at the 4:52 mark here 😊

Thanks Chris, I wrote from memory, and while having the gist of the joke correct, I got them the wrong way round. Funny how memory works (or doesn't).

[please excuse threadnap maggie, I just couldn't resist]

Normally you will get 3 drops per roll as ken says especially if there is a pattern to match up.  How many sheets do you have on the wall at the moment, if it's more than six you will need 3 rolls.  Anyway most stores allow you to buy an extra roll and take it back if it's not used.  This way you can be sure that all rolls match and have the same batch number.

In the days when we wallpapered I used to wruite ther number of rolls used on a piece of paper and put it inside one of the light-switches ready for next time.

There was a next time ?

The term 'half drop' wasn't clear to me so I googled it. Plenty of images, and looks as if effect on the number of required walls might be minimal, but depends on both the pattern and wall height.
