Faint Humming Under Bath
This may sound strange but there is a faint humming noise coming from underneath my bath. When I turn the hot tap on it stops for a little while. It can also be heard through the hot water tap in the kitchen. Same thing. Turn the tap on and it stops but soon starts up again. It's driving me crazy and am also worried in case it indicates anything serious. Can anyone please help??

Vibration, eari. Possibly 'water hammer'. All to do with water pressure. Usually happens with mains pressure. Hot water is often from a gravity system (low pressure), so I imagine you have a combi boiler?
If water hammer, then it means there's an on/off valve somewhere (possibly even a tap) where the valve is 'bouncing' rhythmically. Nothing to worry about, but annoying. Fitting a 'water arrestor' anywhere in the hot water pipework usually stops it.
If not a mains pressure Hot system, then I'm stuck ... would need an extensive poke about to locate the cause.
