Black Marks On Duvet Cover.

Hi few weeks ago found a 6inch diameter jet black stain on duvet cover but no stain on white duvet immediately below it. Much too large an area for bed bugs which there is no evidence of. Now a couple of smaller ones are on newly washed duvet. Any ideas appreciated.

6 inch diameter black is a major stain. Who sleeps under this duvet, could it be ink leaked from a pen? I can't imagine any mess from a washing machine would make that kind of stain unless it was oil or something. Have you studied it, does it smell, is it solid black like ink/paint/liquid?
