Speak to your local Citizens Advice Bureau, or to your local Council Social Services Department, both of whom should be familiar with charities in the area, and will probably be able to point you in the right direction.
hi lozzz, not seen you for so long, I wondered where you'd gone, hope you're ok.

You could try googling - charity furniture *town/city*
when I do that for where I live I get quite a few results.
There is a law out now that charity organizations cannot accept furniture without fire resistant tags on them, so you'll ned to check that your donations have these attached to them.
Our local oxfam and cancer research shops accept them
Salvation Army will arrange collection from your home as long as the pieces of furniture have the necessary fire safety notices still attached to it. Go to your local council's website, and see what they rpovide re: heavy domestic waste. Some boroughs will offer to come and collect your old furniture for a small fee and donate them to charity if they're in good nick.
there is a charity where we live called 'sofa' who will come and collect unwnated furniture and sell in their shop
