I asked this a while back and none of the suggestions worked, I did happen upon a stiff, non-scratch 'sponge' affair in Aldi this afternoon which removed some of the deposit though, only if you're looking for a project though. We're going down the 'get new glasses and hand-wash them' route.

Use distilled white vinegar - apply with paper towel.
Scratches ?
The surface of inexpensive glassware can become damaged by cleaning in a dishwasher (the hot alkaline washwater actually etches the surface of the glass causing cloudiness - which is not reversible).
However, if it it merely slight deposits of hardness salts - use any dilute acid to remove it (like vinegar).
My money's on my first idea though.

Really it comes down to choice, buy cheap glasses and pop them in the dishwasher, replacing when they get too bad; buy decent glasses and hand wash them. Or cheap glasses, I suppose
Can't help with reviving them, Mags but we bought a Finish Dishwasher Protector.
Haven't had it in use for a very long time but so far it does seem to be working. The perfect glasses are still perfect and sparkly.
soak in vinegar then rinse out and use a proper hard canvas glass cloth.
I never put my best glasses in the glass washer.
Never understood why folks get a dishwasher. Seems to me you could have washed up by the time you've loaded them in the machine.
Not me, Tots, just the workaday Sainsburys ones.

Where did Tots come from?
