Cheap toothpaste and a damp cloth. I use Morrison's own brand at 50p a tube

I've heard of that before and apparently it's good for scuff marks on car paintwork too .
I might just give it a go

I use it to clean the 'marble' fireback, too. My gas fire was 'leaking' and ingrained black marks appeared on the marble surround and nothing would get it off - except toothpaste. It's abrasive enough to clean but not so abrasive that it scratches.
