Ive been trying my hand at growing strawberries this year but am finding they are only getting to the size of a fingernail before going red and stopping growing.

How can i get them to grow to normal size or do they just get bigger next year?

Ive been feeding and watering and obviously sunlight is not a problem at the moment.

Mine were small this year but not that small, have you planted the right variety?
If you have just planted them is it not too late in the season?
All my plant have fruited finished and sent runners out.
The first year I planted they were small but this year I got some decent sized fruit
I've grown the alpine variety, small but sweet and tasty.
I think many would struggle in this heat.
I want the juiciest, sweetest strawberries.
Quality, not quantity..

I dont know what variety they are as they were given to me as a gift pack back in May for my birthday, they have been grown from seed but planted months ago.

I dont mind them being small but fingernail size is not even a bitesworth!!
I think it’s because their juvenile plants Darcy.
That’s why you are having fruit late on in the season.
Strawberries are very hardy, so leave be just now , plant the runners if you fancy more plants, but I would be tempted to snip them off.
Tidy them up in the autumn and next year you will get bigger better plants and berries
