Sorry, late to party here. Well, I am with Eon Next, at the moment on the Next Flex variable tariff, the 1 year fixed V10 tariff they offer will work out less for me than the April cap. So, I called them today, they have kindly set me up to transfer to the V10 on April 1st. The V10 will also be even better come October when the cap on variables goes up again. It's down to...

i am not an eonnext customer, but is there much difference in the rate between 1 year fix and 2 year fix?
Have you tried any other companies?

The 2 year is a lot dearer. I think transfers are suspended at the moment according to money supermarket.
If I were changing energy supplier at the moment I would go for a 1-year rather than a 2-year fixed tariff. Things are too volatile at the moment to fix for 2 years.
are they? perhaps that's because there are still some to go bust?
I am on a variable rate and am a bit behind the curve i reckon!
and actually i think i'd agree with BHG
We need to know the unit rates and daily standing charge. What are you paying now, and what are you being offered?

I currently pay 3.18p unit, 21.67p standing charge
Question Author
Till 31st March 3.17 per unit.21.67 daily charge

New variable 4.04 per unit 26.12 daily charge
1 year fixed 6.51 per unit 42.31 daily charge

2 year fixed 9.02 per unit 21.01 daily charge.

The mind boggles.

Mine is fixed till October, but those prices are utterly shocking. People and businesses will be bankrupted by this.

Probably go with the variable, no end contract date.
The variable will soon shoot up - cap lifts in April

I know, interesting read on Martin Lewis website. Luckily we have a small home, only 5 rads and heats up quickly.

I'm afraid it will be either heating or eating for some.

Forgot... The V10 is fixed yet there is no penalty if you want to leave if you find anything better.

Hi Dagman. The daily charge on V10 is 42.31p That puts me off.
