I have a climbing rose in an outside pot plant. The earth has become infested with ants and the leaves have large black spots on them. How do I get rid of the ants if these are causing the problem??

I put an ant trap by the base of the pot. The ants take the bait into the pot and this gets rid of them. PS. I’m not sure the black spots are due to ants but you do need to get rid of them.
The black spots are caused by a disease called, wait for it, blackspot. Rmove the leaves and destroy them ie, don't compost them. Roseclear spray helps to control it.

Out of interest, what are the plants with the black spots ?
Sorry for my overreaction, I somehow missed the words "climbing rose" I was thinking of edible plants, Doh.
