I have a 2.7m parasol from M&S but the base I bought for it doesn’t fit and M&S don’t do bases
Does anyone know which base to get - preferably from Argos

That's a 38mm (= 3.8cm) pole then. Looking at the models sold by Argos, you should ignore this one https://www.argos.co.uk/product/8671637 because it can't accommodate poles more than 3.2cm in diameter. Your pole would fit into this one but, because it can take a pole up to 4.5cm in diameter, you'd end up with a rather loose fit:...

I'm guessing that 'doesn't fit' means that the diameter is wrong. If so, what's actual the diameter of the pole that you need a base for? If we know that, we might be able to point you towards a suitable product.

I’ve measured across the base - it’s 1.5 inches
I have a plastic base from Argos but it’s not a good fit

This one though takes poles up to a maximum diameter of 3.8cm, so (assuming that you've measured accurately!), it should provide a nice snug fit:
