I have severe arthritis in my hip and am awaiting a replacement op, which I accept has disappeared over the horizon for the time being.
The ordinary office chair I use to sit at my computer desk makes the pain a lot worse and getting a new chair has become a priority.
Can anyone recommend a make of chair that I might source as a "try-out"?

I'd be grateful to hear any experiences or receive any suggestions.

Depends on your budget, Ringlet, and on how big you are.

I am hefty (20 stone) and bought a couple of cheapish chairs (sub-£100). They were alright, but not that great, and not that comfortable.

Finally, my partner argued me into buying this:

DO NOT LOOK at it if you are of a nervous disposition, as the price is huge.

However, as a chair for a larger person it is brilliant, supporting, strong, etc.

They might have less expensive models. Good company, and I would recommend them.

Thanks, Allenlondon, it's good to hear of your personal experience and recommendation. I'm not heavy (around ten and a half stone) but I am tall. I had a peep at the link you provided - and yes -ouch - it is pricey. But I think I would be prepared to pay out to find something that wouldn't cause excruciating agony each time I try to get up. Replacement op is a long way away so it would be worth it just for some comfort. thank you again. Much appreciated
Have a read of no 2 in this article - it's the chair I have

If I could afford it, I'd consider no.1 in the same article

As a much cheaper alternative consider this sort of thing

Thanks Barry. Like you, I like number 1 the Herman Miller, but oh my what a price. Number 2 looks much the same at a hugely reduced price.
I'm very happy with my chair, had for some time now and it is wearing well BUT what suits me may not suit you. Ideally you'd 'try before you buy' but that is impossible at the moment.
Hope you get some relief from your pain
Have a look at this one, too - watch the first few seconds of the video and see how the seat reacts when it is sat upon

Hey, Ringlet. Have you had a replacement op? When my father had arthritis in his hip, so he mostly sat in my gaming chair. Here it is https://eurekaergonomic.com/gaming-chair-gc-04-pink/. He told me it was really comfy for him to sit in it. I think it all depends on your specific situation. I’d ask my doctor for advice. Orthopedists know much about it. Btw, a kneeling chair is not the best option. It can hurt your knees. Actually, a saddle chair may be good for you. If I were you, I'd consider that option. Anyway, keep us updated!
