Yes, rough collie is like Lassie. An incredibly patient dog who would tolerate our budgie picking the hair between her toes. On one occasion the budgie jumped into her mouth when she yawned, fortunately with no unfortunate consequences.

Male or female?

Has your Daughter not come up with a list?
Male or female?
I love Frankie for a pet name.
Dolly is cute
Question Author
I cant have frankie as that was my daughter's nickname:(.
Yes feels has come up with a list of unfavoured (by us) names. My husband refuses to have a dog called fluffy
Question Author
Puppy is a boy
Bartie
... or Barty
Fluffy was good enough for Hagrid :-)

How bout Rocky, Frank or OurEnry? (scrub Frank, apologies)
Question Author
Next doors dog is called Bertie so I don't think so but thanks for the suggestion
What type did you go for?

Met someone in the park who's dog was called Alan, it made me smile so much that i vowed if ever i was to get another dog i would call him that.
Question Author
I actually really like fluffy. My husband (I think) things it'll sound very unmasculine to shout it out
Question Author
It's a border collie.
Lots of suggestions here
https://www.allthingsdogs.com/puppy-names
but I might opt for Benji.

However it could be a good idea to find a name that seems to match your dog's looks. (As an analogy, one of my cats is called Chequers because he's black and white, like a chequers board. One of his brothers is called Moonbeam because the beautiful markings on his coat reminded me of the patterns made on the ground by clouds scudding across the moon).
Oh, I love border collies. I hope that you realise that they need several hours exercise every day though!

Some suggestions here

but I still like 'Benji'!
Oh i love Border Collies i used to have one, they do need a lot of exercise and stimulation but are very intelligent.

I used to spend most weekends going to Agility competitions with her and training her in the week, but i was much younger and fitter back then. Wouldn't be able to do it now.
PS: Many years ago, my friend got a beautiful male border collie from a rescue centre. It was called 'Laddie', presumably because that's the male equivalent of the film star Lassie's name. I always liked the name, so perhaps that's another one for you to consider?
Badger
Oscar
We had a few Collie crosses - Sweep and Chips were the boy's names.
"Fluffy" has a good pedigree (pun intended) - it was what Hagrid called the three-headed giant dog in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone. A very macho dog ;-)
