because of our weather I never ever get the good of my garden table and nearly every year buy a new one ie plastic number with a couple of chairs,

however a couple of years ago I bought a wee metal one with glass top and of course it has rusted away to nothin

I don't want to buy another one so have sanded this one down this morning and I am going to paint it.

What kind of paint please.

I don't think you'd go wrong with "Hammerite" JJ.

ok thanks Builder - do they do colours - if so what would you suggest? It has been like dull grey before
yes they do colours, loads of them
Question Author
Builder - have looked at the hammerite - and noticed spray paint - would that be alright.
Paint it outside, in the open air, JJ. Otherwise you'll be floating.
Question Author
oh I would be Tilly as it is an outside table -
Yes JJ. Brush or aerosol.
Don't forget, spraying needs a lot of masking-up (masking tape ........... not the virus type ;o)
Just bear in mind that it does not use normal thinners/brush cleaner so, buy the special stuff, use a brush you are happy to throw away or use the aerosol version. It normally takes two coats so it might cost two brushes.
I believe Hammerite needs special brush cleaning liquid.
Chuck the brush don't clean it.

builder - thanks for the link.
Hammerite - you can paint over rust or anything. It's pricey, but worth it.
Nice to see ‘ the builder’ helping jj out. ;-)
