My Heating Pad Control Is Flashing 'e'

It is also overheating...even on lowest setting, it's way too hot. Can it be fixed?

The following is an 'opinion', rather than an 'answer', but I still think it's worth posting. (Please feel free to tell me that "the second word is 'off'" though, if you disagree!)

If any heating device isn't functioning properly, it's a potential fire risk. Even if someone here could come up with a 'fix' (which I doubt anyway), there would still be a possible risk of further overheating.

Much as I hate suggesting that it's time to throw something away, I think that you'd be extremely unwise to continue using the heating pad (with or without any kind of 'fix'). Please dispose of it, rather than put your life at risk!

It actually reverted to behaving nicely later in the evening. But I suspect it may be at the end of its useful life. It's never on when I'm out of the room...I'll keep an eye on it.
