My Whirlpool AWE 6517 is not spinning the clothes as well as it did when new so is it the belt that needs replacing? Can anyone identify which belt I can order online and I will try replacing it myself. I have looked online but cannot identify which one

If you go the manufacturer's website and then click on 'Spare parts', you're redirected to the company's authorised parts supplier. It appears that there are two belts (of different lengths) for your machine:

I have had a look but how can I identify which of the two I need for the spin speed?
Try asking the manufacturer. Their phone lines are open tomorrow from 0930 to 1530 and then from 0800 to 1800 during the week: 03448 224 224 (Calls are charged at the same rate as you pay for 01 or 02 calls, from both landlines and mobiles. If you've got spare 'included minutes' in your package, that will make the call free).

Or ask their spare parts supplier: 0844 55 72 510 (7p per minute on top of whatever your phone provider charges you for the initial connection. Lines open 0900 to 1730 weekdays).

. . . or get inside the machine to work out which belt looks like the right one. Remove it and measure its length.

My machine is a Whirlpool AWE 6517 and the number on the front sticker is 5019 104 00649/A and I have tried to find a belt number over the phone but cannot identify the part number which must begin with an 8. They will not give it out unless one is Trade. Are there any washing machine repair persons on Answerbank who could help please?
These guys are very helpful and I've rung them up before about spare parts -its worth giving them a try https://www.espares.co.uk/search/ma278pt1689/washing-machines/belts/whirlpool
Yes I always use espares.

Are you sure it is the belt? If belst slip then it is usually accompanied by a screeching noise.

Check the pump filter is clear first.
^^^^ totally agree -on two occasions when my machine has stopped spinning its been the filter -a cheap part if you have to replace it but often its a foreign object like a button or penny that blocks it up.
espares is always my first port of call for domestic appliance spares, good service and price, are you going to fit it yourself or employ someone?
Yes good point AuntPolley, I would start with filter or pump, I have to do the pump cleaning regularly, as Mrs Tony is very keen on filling m/c up without checking my pockets, apparently my fault lol. But the coins come out bright and shiny.
^^^ so you're into money laundering like me Tony ;-)
Lol AuntPolly hope you will not report me xxx

Thank you sooo much. I have looked at the link and will use it to get a belt. It spins for the full length of time but the washing is still quite heavy and not a dry at it used to be. No blockages or pump gone but grateful for your suggestions.
