As above ^^^^^^^ Or... if there aren't too many, pick them off with the point of a Stanley knife. Maybe Nitromors to soften them first.

If they don't scrape off, then abrasive paper ?
Brick acid.

I recall someone trying to remove mortar from some brickwork I put up, using brick acid. Failed miserably.
Steel wool? Might get into the little crevices better than a flat piece of paper.
OG - I used brick acid on an old tiled hearth afte from floor tilesr spending way too much time trying to scrub off years of carpet glue etc. Came off a treat.

Used the same brick acid to try and remove some mortar and didn't touch it.
Yep, Brick Cleaner Acid is only for cement stains. It won't normally touch lumps of mortar.

Ummm, we need to get together to show OG how to brush up his bricklaying skills ;o)

And........ I wouldn't let Shoota near. His idea of stain removal would be unloading both barrels at it ;o(
It was a one off decades ago, because I like to try my hand at all sorts of things. The bricks had a rough face on the outside for decorative purposes I suppose. All too easy to get mortar on, near impossible to remove. Still standing though.
That'd work Builder, sort of bead blasting with birdshot...
