My son has just moved into a new flat and it looks like the previous tenant wasn’t very clean. The washing machine is relatively new, and a good one , Bosch, but try as I might, with bleach, vim and everything else I can lay my hands on , I can’t remove the black stain on the big rubber ring inside the machine by the door. Any ideas ?

bircab of soda and white vinegar

I have tried white vinager. Nada. Will try the bicarb. When I wipe now the cloth is clean, but I fear their clothes will smell when washed
You could put it through a hot wash with just a pillow case in and see if it comes out stained? Try putting some soda crystals in with the detergent.
You mix the bicarb and vinegar together in a paste rub on and leave before wiping off
If you try everything available and the mark doesn't shift it's not likely to affect the washing.
You've cleaned it. It shouldn't be an issue. It's just a stain and if all the products you've used haven't shifted it it's very unlikely to effect anything you wash.
The rubber door seal onmy machine jas black marks on it - it never affects the washing. Forget about it.
Just don't go showing your house guests !
