Hi, I have a Hotpoint FZ175 upright frost free freezer about 10 years old. The red warning light is coming on which according to the manual means the temperature is too high. I have checked all around the door seals finding no cracks, dirt etc and the door has not been left open. Next I turned the temperature dial to off and turned off at the plug as per manual instructions. When I turn it on again the red light has gone out but the freezer is silent. After about 15 mins, you hear the freezer turn on so it is running. It worked all last night but during today the red light appeared again so I went through the same procedure again. I am now going backwards and forwards to the freezer every couple of hours as this red light keeps coming on. The compressor at the back of the freezer is hot but I assume it is supposed to be. When the freezer goes quiet, it seems that is the time the red light comes on. I found myself getting up at 3 in the morning just to check the freezer as it is fairly full of food. Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Handbags at dawn then ladies?
A 10 year old freezer isn't old! I replaced my 30 year old one 2 years ago because I needed a bigger one, not because it didn't work. I also have a 20 year old fridge-freezer which is fine. Neither are/were "posh" makes. Ring Hotpoint.
