You boil an egg on top of the stove in a pan. The egg doesn't crack. So effectively, you've put some boiling water in a pan with an egg.

Do you wash up the pan, after the egg has boiled?

The kettle?
Question Author
Yes the kettle has a limescale build up. you know the left over from water?
I descale the kettle - and I don't boil eggs in it.

What i'm asking is, is the scale due to the water, or the egg?
Yes. It's not like it'll take long.
I wash the pan afterwards.
Scale due to water
I cook my eggs in the dish-washer; it precludes the calcification of a sauce-pan.
When I boil an egg the saucepan goes in the washing up.
If you think I'm shelling out on even more hot water you must be yolking.
