What's Best Out Of Engineered Wood Flooring And Solid Wood Flooring?

We are renovating our kitchen and dining room and have been looking at real wood flooring. Does anyone know which will best suit a kitchen / diner?

As an alternative we used this product, much easier to install and almost maintenance free, just needs mopping and to those that dont know, people believe its wood.

Solid wood is always preferable surely? It's just usually more expensive and requires treatment

ok Will I guess wear thickness is the thickness of veneer that is "tree wood" on top of substrate

Think you can treat hard wood but not engineered wood

Engineered for rooms like Kitchens with risk of minor water contact as they are resistant to warping. You can also varnish them with water resistant varninsh to be extra safe.

we looked into this when we had our living room and hall floor laid. We went for oiled (not varnished) real hardwood. When we had ours done, around 11 years ago, the difference was that the engineered wood had a limited amount of times that it could be sanded and refinished, IIRC it was 3 times although that may have changed With real wood, its one solid plank all the way down and will last a lifetime. My floor gets abused. I have got two big dogs who run in and out regardless of the weather. I mop the floor with specialist cleaner which also adds oil to the surface and it comes up beautifully. Off the wall but if you are looking at new flooring, have you looked at flotex? The ones with wood and stone photoraphic images on are amazing. I am looking at replacing my kitchen floor with it, we went for tiles but they are very unforgiving when you drop things.

Sam dont know what your laying your new floor onto eg concrete or floorboards, but if can will be worth laying this first if you can IMO
