Toilet Cistern Handle Loose

The handle on my cistern is loose so I assumed it would be straight forward enough to just tighten the plastic screw inside.

I tried both ways but didn't seem to make a difference.

Looked on a few DIY site and am getting conflicting advice as to which way to turn it.

Any advice really appreciated.

As you are looking at from outside the cistern, anti-clockwise

Jordy, if you are looking at from the front of the cistern then you turn left to tighten
