Hi I live in a housing association house In South glos. I have a bathroom with no shower it costs a lot to keep having baths I contacted my association about the possibility of them installing a shower. I was told absolutely not. My bathroom is not due to be updated until 2024 making current suite and floor then 30 years old. Is this normal practice?. Is there any outside agency I can contact to do a survey of my bathroom who may put pressure on, to update and install a shower.Or do you think I'd be wasting my time?

i think you'd be wsting your time. A survery will say you have adequate washing facilities, so it wont be an added incentive for the HA
i would have thought that if a bathroom suite is functioning well, the fact that it's 30 years old isn't a reason to change it. If having a bath is costly, have you thought about washing instead? Or filling the bath up a little and using jug to pour water on yourself?
Snags we used one of them for many a year till the bathroom was modernised and before that we used the rubber ones the slipped on the tap!
Go back to using the simple rubber ones that push on the tap - nothing wrong with them unless you insist on a power shower.
i dont understand why people underestimate having a wash. it's not as nice as a shower, but if money is an issue, far cheaper. On the quikquid advert when the boy of about 16 is saying "mum there's no hot water" she says "you'll have to smell today, but i'll get someone to fix it tomorrow" it always has me shouting at the tv "or boil a kettle and have a wash you muppet"

Ok thanks :/
My uncle lives in an 'old peoples' bungalow in Stoke on Trent. The bungalows have recently been refurbished, new roof new windows, new central heating system, new bathroom. My uncle asked if it was possible for a shower to be fitted instead of a bath, as he cannot get out of the bath and hasn't had a bath for years. The reply was that yes, he could have a shower installed as long as he paid for it himself.
He declined and so they gave him a stool to sit on, in the bath.
Isn't that ridiculous, Tilly. How do you sit, safely, on a stool in a bath?
It is ridiculous, Eth. Shame on them. :-(
I would think one of those seats which sit on top of the sides of the bath would be far safer but not ideal.
I really am at a loss as to what goes on in some of these people's minds who make these decisions..
Lou....I don't suppose you're old enough to get some advice from AgeUK?....x
