You know the switch you have for your cooker - well I was cooking a little chicken for Maxie and went to switch it off - when the surround chrome plate felt a little too hot. Have never felt this before. I'll have to use it today but should I get an electrician if I can tomorrow.

To be assured that it is safe, then yes.
Is the switch immediately above the cooker? Ie could it have been the cooking heat making it warm?

no Zacs - it is aside and sorta next to the chrome switches for the fridge etc and it is not hot.
OK. Sounds fairly normal. A cooker pulls a few amps but best to have a man in. Or a woman. Are there any women electricians in Ireland?

Well got the dinner done and dusted. About an hour or ago decided I would have a pizza - switched the said switch again and of course it got hot like sorta right away and also smoke coming from the switch.

Electrician coming tomorrow about 4.30pm. I do sorta worry about other switches i leave on.
Question Author
well that has been quick for me to get an electrician - wires in the socket were burnt and would have burnt even more if I had left it on.

Made the cooker safe and will be back tomorrow to replace the chrome plate.
