Assuming it's non-standard, Henry...
Even a ready made timber door and frame can be made to fit in some cases. Timber "plants" can easily be added to the sides of the frame to take up the slack.
More complicated if the opening is shorter than standard. Frames are easily altered. Even the door could be trimmed to fit.

Having a timber door & frame made to measure and fitted, could cost £600-700 for a simple one.
uPVC doors are made to measure. That might well be a cheaper option.

What's the existing opening size, Henry? I might be able to tell you more from that.

Hi Builder, just measured it ....76 inches top to bottom, 29 from side to side

its actually a stable door and when we get torrential rain (ie when main road under an inch of water) it leaks through the stable door join and the small gap between door and frame on the hinge side..thinking of maybe just a small porch roof / canopy to protect it from the worst of the weather?
Henry I like stable doors they can be made water tight with correct seals and not that difficult to fit - suggest you get 3 quotes unless you know somebody who has work done by someone local and can recommend them
With those dimensions, Henry, you should be able to trim a standard door & frame.

Get a frame with a standard hardwood threshold.

Do get quotes though. Trimming the door is easy. The carpenter may well choose to make up a frame to fit instead of altering a standard one.
